  1. Go to the Start tab.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Select Devices.

  5. Switch on the Bluetooth.
  6. Open the battery compartment by pulling the base of the surface dial. Ensure that it should have 2 AAA batteries.
  7. Take out the battery tab.
  8. Click and hold button batteries for 5-7 seconds and release button. Bluetooth is going to flash.

Use It in the Ink Workspace of Windows
If you want to use the Surface dial in the Ink Workspace, then abide by the given steps:
  1. Click on a pen.
  2. Tap on Sketchpad or press the top of the Surface pen.
  3. Click on Sketchpad; it will automatically select the pen tool.
  4. Change the option in between pencil, pen eraser, or highlighter by revolving the Surface Dial.
  5. Hit then hold it to see extra tools.
  6. Highlight the tool you need to use by moving the dial left or right.
  7. Click down and release.
  8. Start drawing.
You Can Use the Surface Dial with Apps
Surface Dial can be used with apps in Windows 10, including Microsoft Edge, Maps, Groove Music, Paint 3D. It may work with proficient software like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
Volume – Revolve left to turn down and right to turn up. Tap the mute or unmute option.
Scroll – Revolve left to scroll up and right to scroll down.
Brightness – Revolve left to low the brightness and right to increase the brightness.
Undo – Revolve right to step through redo history and left to step in undo the history. Tap to execute the particular undo.
Zoom – Revolve right to zoom in and left to zoom out in Adobe Photoshop or illustrator.
