Tips To Make Apple Watch’s Battery Life Better

Having an Apple Watch offers several benefits, but it is essential to keep it charged to take advantage of it. You charge your Apple Watch to use it a whole day, but you can try some tips to make the battery last longer. Below are some tips to improve Apple’s Watch battery life. Try them to use your Apple device more confidently.

Turn off the setting: Always-On display mode on Series 5 or later

The Apple Watch from Series 5 and later, excluding the SE one, comes with always-on-display, meaning you can easily view time or any other detail without needing to touch the Watch or flick your wrist. However, Apple provides ways to minimize power usage by reducing the display’s refresh rate by 1 Hz.

But you can turn off always-on-display to save battery power from the Watch’s application. Launch the Watch app on your phone and open General and then Display & Brightness. Under Display & Brightness, uncheck the setting called Always On.

Reduce notifications

Push notifications consume massive power from the battery regardless of the device, including smartphone or Apple Watch. You can reduce some notification to minimize battery consumption. Reducing notification will also improve your productivity.

Avoid taking calls and using the Walkie Talkie function

When you receive calls or use Walkie-Talkie on your smartwatch, it will be a battery drainer activity. However, a five-minute call doesn’t consume more power. If you have to continue your call for more than that, you should use your iPhone.

Take advantage of Power Saving Mode during workouts

If you don’t use the heart rate monitoring feature on your Apple Watch, you can turn it off to save battery power. When you disable this feature, you are only eligible to use metrics, like time, distance, and speed. To disable the heart rate monitoring, you will need to enable Power Saving Mode.

Avoid using media playback, especially over cellular Watch

An Apple Watch allows you to sync music, eliminating the need for an iPhone. You can listen to music using supported wireless headphones, including Apple AirPods and more. But syncing music to your Watch causes battery draining if you use the Watch for workout tracking simultaneously. If you are using a cellular Apple Watch, you can enjoy music from platforms including Spotify or Apple Music but mobile data consumes huge power resulting in battery drain.

Fix excessive battery consumption

Utilizing battery life for different features is not the same as excessive battery consumption due to problematic software or hardware. If you see your Watch is consuming excessive battery without involving in workout activities or any other battery consuming task, be aware because your Watch may have a critical problem. In that case, you have to update both your devices (Watch and iPhone) with their latest updates. If you have bought a Watch recently, you may wait a few days to settle the device into the usage pattern.

Some more tips to boost battery life

  • Try disabling other battery consuming features
  • Use Bluetooth to connect Watch with your iPhone
  • Turn off background refresh
  • Charge the Watch only one time a day
  • Disable Automatic Download on the Watch
  • Take advantage of a dark watch face and minimize brightness

Now you know some potential causes of unwanted battery consumption on your Apple Watch. You can try the above tips to fix unwanted battery usage. If these tips don’t benefit you, you can consider a battery replacement.
